When I Cross the Bridge to Your Side, I See Pictures You See.

About The Figtree Therapy

Love, relationship, intimacy and sex are the experiences that we will have throughout most of our lives. They give us joy yet anger; they bring us smiles yet tears; they make us feel the fulfilment of our lives, yet they may make us lose the sense of self. When we are in emotional difficulties, we can self-help, but sometimes, we need help from others, friends, family or therapists. The Figtree Therapy is set up to help people who are seeking help and wisdom in the swirl of psychosexual and relationship difficulties.

What is psychosexual therapy?

Psychosexual therapy uses targeted or long-term psychotherapy to help address sexual problems. It is a talking-based therapy aimed at helping couples and individuals talk about their lives, their sexual issues and preferences to resolve specific sexual and intimacy problems.

It is widely accepted that body and mind are connected. In psychosexual therapy, we work with this connection. We believe if you are physically healthy, but your sex life hasn’t been satisfying, i.e. you are experiencing sexual dysfunctions, low sexual desire or arousal, or lack of intimacy, then we will look at this body-mind connect to see if there are any blockers. The blockers could be emotional and psychological issues caused by anxiety, low self-confidence, sexual trauma, PTSD, bereavement and loss, etc.

In Figtree Therapy, our therapist is a highly trained specialist. We provide a safe, trusting, confidential space for you to discuss things as openly and honestly as possible. Together, you and your therapist will explore the issues and find the solution.

What is relationship therapy?

Compared to psychosexual therapy, you may have more ideas about relationship therapy. Yes, it looks into love, intimacy, sex life, etc. In Figtree Therapy, we look at the factors that impact the relationship, such as the way of communication, previous life experiences, dysfunctional behaviours, emotional avoidance, etc. We then look for a possible solution to improve the individual’s and couple’s relationships and interactions.

We believe everyone should be able to express their true feelings and thoughts. Hence, we provide a safe and non-judgmental environment for our clients. Our focus is on exploring the past and the present and looking for solutions.  Past experiences, even negative ones, can be useful for our future. We need to learn to find the pearls of wisdom from them.
