About The Figtree Therapy
Love, relationship, intimacy and sex are some things that we will touch and experience in most of our lives. They give us joy but sometimes anger; they bring us smiles but sometimes tears; they make us feel the fulfilment of our lives, but sometimes they make us lose the sense of self. Most of the time, when we are in emotional difficulties, we may be able to help ourselves, but sometimes we need help from others, friends, family or therapists. Figtree Therapy is set up to help people seeking help and wisdom in the swirl of psychosexual and relationship difficulties.
What is psychosexual therapy?
Psychosexual therapy uses targeted or long-term psychotherapy to help address sexual problems. It is a talking-based therapy and doesn’t involve touch, such as massage. In psychosexual therapy, we believe our bodies and minds are linked. There are messages about physical sensations, emotional feelings and thoughts sent between them. Hence we feel sexual arousal. Because of this, psychosexual therapy believes that to resolve sexual issues, such as low sexual desire and arousal, ED, DE, vaginismus, etc., we need to look at the impact from our minds. We must find psychological blockers, explore the reasons for their existence, and then find ways to reduce or remove their impact on our sex lives.
Relationship therapy.
Compared to psychosexual therapy, you may have more ideas about relationship therapy. Yes, it looks into love, intimacy, sex life, etc. In Figtree Therapy, we look at the factors that impact the relationship, such as the way of communication, previous life experiences, dysfunctional behaviours, emotional avoidance, etc. We then look for a possible solution to improve the couple's relationship and interaction. In Figtree Therapy, everyone should have the opportunity to express their true feelings and thoughts. Hence, we provide a safe and non-judgmental environment for our clients. Our focus is to explore the past as well as look for solutions. Past experiences, even the negative ones, have their use for our future. We just need to learn to find the pearls of wisdom from them.
